American candy vs British sweets
It can be tricky to buy candy when travelling between the US and the UK. Even sweets with the same name in both places are actually different!
Candy that exists in both countries, but with different names:
- Whoppers in America are Maltesers in the UK- Hersheys Mounds in the US are Nestle Bounty in the UK
- Dove chocolate in the US is Galaxy chocolate in the UK
- Pull and peel strawberry Twizzlers in the US are strawberry laces in the UK
- York peppermint patty in the US is Kendell mint cake in the UK
- Original MoonPies in the US are Wagon Wheels in the UK
- Laffy Taffy in the US is Chewits in the UK
- JuJubes in the US are like mini Wine Gums in the UK

- Smarties - in the US, Smarties are flat, fruit flavoured disks that come in little rolls. In the UK, Smarties are chocolate with crisp sugar shells in different colours- In the UK, Sour Patch Kids are made by Maynards. In the US, Sour Patch Kids are made by the Allon Candy Company. Larry got very mad when he saw Maynards on the UK packets!
